They can explain services, tout product features or simply create brand recognition. A professionally designed brochure combined with high quality printing will position your product or service or brand in a professional manner. The best part about brochures is that, unlike electronic media, customers often refer back to your brochure which keeps your business front of mind with the customer. You might be wondering to yourself, what’s the difference between a brochure and a booklet? While the two terms are sometimes used interchangeably, a brochure is typically a single printed sheet that is folded in one of many styles. Booklets on the other hand contain many printed sheets that are bound together into a book form.
One question we get asked a lot is whether offset or digital printing is better. And the short answer is it mostly depends on the quantity you need printed and how fast you need it done. Offset printing requires a larger upfront cost of producing plates but has a lower unit cost on large print runs. Digital printing is best for short runs (typically under 2,000 brochures) as there is no upfront cost for plates and has the additional benefit of faster turnaround.
Although standard brochure sizes are more often used to comply with mailing specifications, we can produce any custom size brochures to fit your needs. The choice of brochure size and fold type is best decided with the design and content in mind. You should choose a size that works well with the amount of text and images that you need to incorporate in your brochure. The standard sizes below measure the entire brochure before folding:
There are a myriad of ways to fold a brochure but the most common are the Half fold, Tri-fold and the Z-Fold.
When it comes to picking the appropriate paper for your brochure a lot depends on what type of fold you plan to use for your brochure. The thicker the paper the harder it is to fold it without the ink cracking along the edge as well as not having the folded piece not lay flat. The most common paper used for brochures is 80# or 100# coated cover stock if the brochure is just going to be folded in half. If you plan to do a more complex fold you might want to choose a lighter text weight paper. And of course you always have a choice between coated and uncoated paper stocks.
