The Power of Print: Elevating the North Carolina Women Business Owners Hall of Fame
At the North Carolina Women Business Owners (NCWBO) Hall of Fame, our mission is to honor the legacy of women entrepreneurs who have blazed trails across our state. As we look toward our 10th Annual Gala in October 2027 at the Angus Barn in Raleigh, printed materials have become more than just logistical necessities—they are vital tools for storytelling, advocacy, and organizational growth.

Historically, our organization has leveraged high-quality print to bridge the gap between digital noise and meaningful, face-to-face connection. We have found that in the professional world of business ownership, a physical hand-off is far more impactful than a digital notification.
Legacy Preservation through Inductee Posters:
One of our most successful uses of print is the creation of large-scale, professional Inductee Posters. These serve as a visual “Hall of Fame” gallery at our events. They do more than just decorate a room; they turn a dining space into an immersive environment of inspiration, allowing attendees to literally walk among the achievements of North Carolina’s greatest business leaders.
Tactile Networking & Promotional Cards:
Rather than relying on static digital ads, we use Promotional Cards as high-touch networking tools. We distribute these at regional conferences, business luncheons, and board meetings. Handing a physical, well-designed card to a potential nominee or sponsor creates a personal invitation to join our mission that an email simply cannot replicate. These cards serve as a “leave-behind” that keeps our organization top-of-mind long after a networking event ends.
While our general outreach is event-based, we utilize Direct Mail specifically to cultivate and honor our highest-level relationships. For our 10th Anniversary, we are implementing a “VIP First” mail strategy. We believe that the experience of a Hall of Fame inductee or a title sponsor should begin the moment they open their mailbox.
Commemorative VIP Passes: We plan to design and mail high-quality passes to the VIP experiences that reflect the prestige of the Hall of Fame. For our 2027 Gala, we will mail physical VIP credentials and “All-Access” passes to our honorees and major donors ahead of time. These physical tokens serve two purposes: they act as a “save-the-date” that stays on a leader’s desk as a constant reminder of the upcoming event, and they instill a sense of belonging and distinction in our supporters well before they arrive at the Angus Barn.
The 10th Annual Gala represents a decade of honoring excellence. A print grant would allow us to execute a comprehensive, multi-phase visual campaign:
Phase One: Call to Action (Early 2027): We will print and distribute three specific “Action Cards” at business summits across North Carolina to drive Nominations, Sponsorships, and Ticket Sales.
Phase Two: The Event Experience (October 2027): We will produce a Commemorative Program Booklet. This will be a “keepsake” piece featuring 10 years of inductee stories, sponsor spotlights, and the history of women-led businesses in NC. Additionally, we will deploy large-format Event Signage, including “Step and Repeat” banners for media photos, directional signage, and custom Table Cards that facilitate networking among guests.
Phase Three: Recognition & Sustainability: Following the gala, we will use printed “Thank You” materials to acknowledge our partners, ensuring long-term donor retention.
Print is essential to our “best practices” because it provides permanence and credibility. When a business leader receives a printed nomination card at a luncheon, it becomes a physical reminder to advocate for a peer, directly supporting our mission to find and honor unsung heroes.
A print grant ensures that our 10th Anniversary is not just a one-night event, but a landmark branding moment. By off-loading these significant production costs, we can redirect our limited nonprofit funds toward mentorship programs and scholarships, allowing us to invest more deeply in the very women we are honoring.
