The North Carolina Courage are a Division I professional women’s soccer team. The Courage play home games at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC. The team was looking for a way to promote the Courage brand in a big way. The Courage engaged Telepathic Graphics to fabricate individual 5 foot high, 3 dimensional letters that spell out the word “Courage” along with oversized Courage Logo. The bold red letters now greet fans at the entrance to the stadium.
The fabricated letters needed sturdy construction to be able to withstand not just the weather but also over excited fans posing for selfies.
Our team chose 1/8” white aluminum composite material for the outer skin of the letters and used a series of 1/2” diameter aluminum tubes for increased interior support. All the aluminum pieces that made up the letters (fronts, backs, sides) were laid out in our CAD software and then cut out using our Zund computer aided cutting table. The pieces were then bonded together and received 3 coats of epoxy paint.
